Both Bush and Cheney took their swings at Amnesty International today… Cheney was “offended” , Bush calls the reports “absurd”. We’re sure the Muslim world is equally “offended” at these “absurd” denials. Those FBI, internal military and Red Cross reports, as well as those pesky Abu Gharib pictures are absurd and offensive indeed. The Flop comes with the Administration ironically evoking the merits of Amnesty International reports to make their case for war:
“…[I]t seems to me a careful reading of Amnesty International or the record of Saddam Hussein, having used chemical weapons on his own people as well as his neighbors, and the viciousness of that regime, which is well known and documented by human rights organizations, ought not to be surprised.”

Well, not Karnac, Dwight. This has been going around for a while but just in case you haven’t looked into the crystal ball of this ex-president have a peek now:
“Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes that you can do these things. Among them are a few Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid.”
If you bend and twist and bend and twist eventually the truth will break.
