What’s interesting watching the hearings is that the justifications given for spying basically neuters the Congress as a whole, this includes the Republicans.
And, by the way, if they are not spying on ordinary domestic correspondence why can’t that be said or assured, why is the answer to that avoided, repeatedly. Why would the Republicans refuse to swear in the Attorney General? The answer is quite clear to this observer, we are being spied on! The question that needs to be asked over and over, especially in this election year, is… are they spying on their political opponents? The scope of their dragnet is far greater than anything Nixon ever did. This coupled with their track record of arrogance of the Executive makes it severely plausible that they are doing this. Democrats and the Press should assume at all times that they are being spied upon.
