Thinking, well actually knowing, that the press has the memory of a flea, Bush is asking for $46 billion for war funding a few weeks late because he didn’t want his SCHIP veto to coincide with the war funding request. That would have allowed the genius’ at the news desks to do some actual digging deep journalism known as “compare and contrast”. Now sit back as he tells us how he needs the money in the ususal “can’t wait, need it yesterday, the troops will starve, and innocent Americans will certainly die” fashion.
Just for clarity, some may point out that the Dem request for SCHIP was $35 billion but that was requested over a 10 years period.
The $46 billion brings the total to $196.4 billion requested by the administration for operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere for the budget year that started Oct. 1.
