Same great taste but with half the smarminess.
If there were any doubt that Mukasey was just another Bush lackey sent up to run interference for the Criminal in Chief here’s the confirmation. What happened to the openness and independence promised during his confirmation? Just another snow job perpetrated on the suckers we call our Democratic leaders. What’s worse is that he’s worse at it than Gonzo. You can see and feel his integrity crumble as the bullshit struggles to leaves his mouth. I’d love to know what it takes to make a former Federal Justice throw his lifes work away to run flack for the Mob.
Shouldn’t Specter – if he’s so sure of Bush’s law breaking – be asking these very questions at an Impeachment hearing?
It’s a kings government, a one man show, this so called democracy. Why do senators even bother showing up anymore?

Laugh, will you.
So the rumor has it. Sad day. As the long shot, he made a good showing but it looks apparent that Hillary and Obama aren’t going to eat themselves which was the only remaining hope for his campaign. So where now for us Edwards supporters? The defining issue for us was electability against a Republican nominee, one that he still polls as the best candidate, but it’s clear he won’t get the nod from Democrats. So the question becomes who’s more electable, Clinton or Obama? At this point it looks like Obama, as the Clinton bashing is again reaching fever pitch in the media. I also must say that an Obama/Edwars ticket looks like a lock. Then again there was a bit of chummyness between Clinton and Edwards and the Clinton’s should not be underestimated. So where does our support go? Right now it’s generic Democrat. I’ll give myself 24 hours and some waterboarding to force out my answer.

I’m not sure it’s necessary to point out all of this given that most people are fairly well aware that Fox is pure Republican thuggery and sparkling propaganda, but it’s a good defense of what I just said.
Can we stop pretending now that the surge is “invisible-izing” the war and that 16 dead soldiers is a victory compared to 30?
One is horrible, two is horrible, three is horrible,… and so on.
US Casualties in Iraq Up Some in January, But Down from Highs — 01/29/2008
Can we stop pretending that we don’t torture and what we do is within’ “the Law”? Can we stop pretending that Bush, Rumsfeld, & Cheney lied their asses off about it? Can we stop pretending that our soldiers won’t be treated the same in this war or the next? Can we stop pretending that we’re so morally superior? Can we stop pretending that we do what Jesus would have done?
Can we stop!

Hammer time! Can’t touch this!
The Bush stimulus plan is to give out a bit of free money, about 150 billion. It breaks down like this. But… if there is no tax break rollback, or new tax, then what it really is, is more deficit spending. It’s a quick fix, a political one, one that lasts til about Bush leaves office. It does nothing for the long term. It just puts us deeper in the hole.
