“But I don’t want to go among mad people”

First a bit of history:
Maybe it’s time to start putting 3 trillion in context a Republican can understand…
Think of all the brown people we could keep out with a three trillion dollar fence as well as tsunami generating machines to drown out those yellow boat people.
Daily, private, one-on-one, abstinence only education for everyone, including seniors, for 17 years.
No taxes, none, for two years. Or five years if just Republicans don’t pay.
School vouchers for your kids, their kids, and their kids. Think of all the educated unborn!
A 17 million acre tree farm, as an amusement park where Republicans and their families can go to cut them down, build crosses, and spit on squirrels. Can’t neglect family activities.
Enough oil to fill every single swimming pool in the Northern Hemisphere.
39 Bibles for every man woman and dog (Rick Santorum’s included) in the entire world.
The possibilities are biblical!
Clearly what is emerging here is a picture of untapped genius.
The failed oil drilling metaphors run – I just can’t stop myself – deep.

Last week the President said:
“A clear lesson I learned in the museum (Rwanda Genocide Museum) was that outside forces tend to divide people up inside their country and are unbelievably counterproductive.”
Today he said his regarding the incursion of Iraq by Turkey:
“The Turks need to move quickly, achieve their objective, and get out.”
It’s amazing to me the level of self imposed ignorance by Amerikans on the cost of this war . People really do think money grows on trees. The next president will be saddled with the largest deficit in history and only a short 8 years after Bill Clinton left a substantial surplus. Pretending that the war will magically pay for itself, or be paid for by Iraqi oil, or our “allies”, is still in full effect. Unfortunately the facts are starting to flow, as the article below points out, and it aint pretty. Somehow the platform of “No New Taxes” by the GOP, a sort of “fill the giant hole with a magic bean” solution to absolutely nothing, is held up by our elite discourse as most serious, and the subsequent question of how to pay for anything at all is somewhere hanging on that money growing tree.
Judging by their silly questions tonight, Russert and Williams obviously know nothing about health care policy, Iraq, Islamic terrorism, economics, global trade or any other subject that requires more than five minutes study to come up with some gotcha question or a stupid Jack Bauer fantasy. It’s embarrassing.
Sadly it won’t be because of posts like this that Timmeh will tone down the bullshit. It will be because John McCain is on stage.

Whether to serve our country by working for daddy or enlisting or working for daddy or enlisting…
Why won’t the magic underpants decide!
“We understood that he [McCain] did not speak directly with him [Paxson]. Now it appears he did speak to him. What is the difference?”
-McCain attorney Robert S. Bennett
I understand it’s not appropriate to actually ask to see your attorney’s diploma.
This may be one of those times.
