…it’s John McCain.
Kind of goes against the big, bad, mas macho Republican image.

On the witness stand was the former chief prosecutor for the tribunals, Col. Morris Davis. Called to testify by defense lawyers, he told the court what he’d told the press — that he’d quit after becoming convinced that the political appointees overseeing the system were about politics first and justice second, that he was told “we can’t have acquittals,” and that he was pushed to land indictments or plea deals before the election. He also said that his superiors saw no problem with using confessions obtained through torture, including waterboarding. Everything is “fair game,” he says he was told, “let the judge sort it out.”
Who cares, I heard Rev. Wright spoke yesterday, and he has a potty mouth.
The Bush pardon list will be epic, War & Peace sized.

President Bush has talked about our staying in Iraq for fifty years … ” McCain responds, “Maybe a 100.” And then later, “That’d be fine with me.”
And even though the political press has been highly indulgent of the McCain campaign on this issue, I don’t think I’ve seen any news organization so egregiously buy into McCain’s false statements as the Associated Press.
The AP article lede reads: “The Republican National Committee demanded Monday that television networks stop running a television ad by the Democratic Party that falsely suggests John McCain wants a 100-year war in Iraq.“
To quote a recent comment by Suzie Q, “And the media will report it and say it persuasively and then it will be so.”

Update:
John McCain was against the 100 year commitment in Iraq before he was for it

SCALIA: And you say he’s punishing you? What’s he punishing you for? … When he’s hurting you in order to get information from you, you wouldn’t say he’s punishing you. What is he punishing you for?
By this definition would it be constitutional to torture Scalia in order to get him to understand what torture is?

I think it’s very clear who Hamas wants to be the next president of the United States. I think that people should understand that Obama will be Hamas’s worst nightmare….If senator McCain is favored by Hamas I think people can make judgments accordingly.
