Eight years ago at around this time, then-Governor Bush couldn’t name the leader of Pakistan. And now, we have a Republican who can’t tell the difference between Sunnis and Shia. To that point, is Senator McCain willfully ignorant about Iraqi sectarian divisions, or does he try really hard and the smart just rolls out of his skull and down his neck — gathering in a puddle inside his cranky cortex?
