I always thought it was ridiculous when the Republicans would roll out some hyper corporate agenda and then label it with a gooey feel good label denoting the exact opposite, “clear skies” anyone. I don’t actually think they were thinking they were fooling anyone - sure they were out to frame the issue for those that don’t pay attention to anything but the peripheral - I really think they were willfully exposing by exploring the public limits of their power, a daily putting of the crimes in broad daylight for all to see would lessen their perceived impact and/or severity. It didn’t matter to them, there really was no down side, the masses and media were still buying the spin, it played as confident American optimism, and let’s face it they were gonna do what they wanted to do regardless of anyones exposure that it was pure bullshit.
Saying one thing and doing another, doing one thing and saying another.
Wolf calling + hypocrisy + compulsive lying.
Cynicism in a time of minimal hope.
Somewhere along the line this stupidly became a campaign tactic.
