Aside from exploding Republican heads on every corner, a good thing for Obama to do would be to run on the “Reagan Tax Plan” platform, when taxes were much higher for rich assholes.

All of this is just political cover for the dealers in the next election. None of this, of course, does anything to improve the economy or create jobs. This sad fact has been absent from the debate and thus the deal. The house always wins, the players are still suckers, and the dealers get a nice tip just for shuffling the deck.

The Senate or the House or the House of any State or your local City Council are “deliberative bodies”. They exist for the very purpose of DEBATE. Debate is the pure mechanization of our American system, it exists and has existed as the life blood, the flowing oil of the engine of government. It’s only check, it’s off switch, it’s arrival at any destination of solution is the Vote. Yet the Republican Party seems to exist solely for the purpose of driving that engine on “My Way Or The” highway hell bent on running that engine dry of any debate while driving an endless road with no destination, avoiding most votes by sitting shotgun wielding the blank road map of filibuster.
How “American” is that?

It’s going to be such a wonderful times seeing all the GOP candidates try to outcrazy each other and with this field we’re talkin’ cawazy! But the party will end (or maybe really just begin) when the winner will have to tack 180 degrees back to the center to compete for the big prize.
Funz!

The conservative outpouring of concern for the Japanese and Libyans is commendable. Using our taxpayer funded social(ist) services in charitable ways to help the poor sick and hungry… Sending our middle and poorer class men and women to fight for the freedoms of Arab foreigners, awesome. We’re America.
Unless of course they want to worship here in the religion of their choice or heavens forbid any foreigners want to cross our borders and maybe end up needing some food, need to see a doctor cause they dare to get sick on our soils, or basic protections under our great system of government.
You see, the conservative mindset of caring or freedom is conditional, based largely on a “not in my yard” arms length position, but also quite random in it’s application, and of course absent of any awareness of hypocrisy.

Keep in mind that the massive state budget shortfalls are directly related to lack of tax revenue. Tax revenue that was slashed at the demands of Republicans so rich people could get a break from the oppression of the government and that would surely save the economy and hiring would begin again. Also keep in mind pensions had plenty of money but most state pension funds were heavily invested in junk real estate bonds that were sold by the banks as AAA rated no-risk securities, and lost shitloads of workers money. Also keep in mind that the same Republicans who insist on cutting if not wholly eliminating Social Security and Medicaid for retirement are the same Republicans who want to take away the retirement pension system. In other words work hard and be self sufficient, invest your money in retirement plans then give it to us rich people to pay for our tax breaks, but be self sufficient. So, record bonuses, tax cuts for the biggest profiteers, and Government bailouts are “necessary”, but according to Republican run State Houses and Governors the little guy must “tighten their belts”, give up their rights, and turn over their retirement savings or the sky will surely fall. All the while the media plays along telling us about the greedy teachers and that for some reason deficits will end the world. Meanwhile nobody is talking about jobs? This is a really neat trick the Republicans are pullin’ off.
